Sanawarians now take up clubs

chandigarh: for old students of lawrence school sanawar, it's an opportunity to catch up with old friends and as the himalaya house motto goes, "fight a good fight." for, on saturday, the 1st mount shivalik sanawar inter house golf tournament will take place in the city's golf club. around 50 entries have come in with old sanawarians coming in from surrounding areas, even delhi, to represent their house.the school has four houses - himalaya, nilgiri, shivalik and vindhya. each house can be represented with more than one team. apart from the main cup, several other prizes are also up for grabs. there's silver (courtesy mount shivalik breweries) for individual prizes and golf accessories from ping courtesy pankaj sethi (called jerry, batch of 1979) who happens to be the all-india distributor for ping. individual prizes are for 'the longest drive', 'closest to the pin', 'maximum number of birdies' etc. "we've been under pressure from old students to start such sporting activities," says ashish bhatia (himalaya, '80), former president of the old sanawarian society.
